USE
No cooking required. Just drain the water in the package and rinse the product with cold water 2 or 3 times. You can either heat it in a pan for 2 to 3 minutes, put it into the microwave oven for one minute, or heat it up in a wok. Aerobic

The word aerobic comes from the Greek words aero (air) and bios (life) meaning „living in the presence of oxygen”. Aerobic exercise is a type of exercise during which the body uses a lot of oxygen to produce the energy needed for the exercise as well as the body’s metabolic process. It refers to a form of exercise that makes our body’s use of oxygen more efficient and in turn strengthens our heart and lungs.

Aerobic process

This is what happens during exercise requiring little to moderate physical effort. When doing this type of exercise, you do not huff and puff or get out of breath. When doing aerobic exercise, the body uses a lot of oxygen to produce the energy required for the exercise. The body produces the energy it needs by using oxygen to burn the fats and carbohydrates available to it.

Anaerobic

We talk about anaerobic exercise when the amount of oxygen available to the body is not enough to produce the energy the muscles require. Due to its high intensity, exercise in the anaerobic zone can be performed for only a short time; and it should be followed by a period of rest.

Anaerobic process

This is the process that takes place during intense workout. When we do such exercise we have to concentrate on our breathing, as we often start huffing and puffing and get out of breath. During anaerobic processes the body uses carbohydrates very quickly, and lactic acid is produced. In the absence of oxygen our body can only use carbohydrates to generate energy.

Amino acids

They are organic compounds that make up proteins by joining together. After water they are the second biggest building block of our body. Proteins are chains of 22 different types of amino acids called proteinogenic – meaning protein creating – amino acids. In addition to these there are more than 100 different types of amino acids occurring naturally, which fall into three categories: essential, semi-essential and non-essential. Our body needs all of the above types of amino acids, none is more important than the other. If our body does not get the amount of amino acids it needs – because we follow an unhealthy diet or do not eat enough protein, we are going to experience the following symptoms: tiredness, allergy, premature aging or even digestive disorders.

Antioxidant

Antioxidant is a word of Greek origin meaning „something that inhibits oxidation”. Antioxidants are substances that slow down oxidization and by doing this prevent decay. Our body obtains the antioxidants it needs from food and dietary supplements. There are a lot of antioxidants in vegetables, fruit, herbs as well as most vitamins.

Metabolism

Metabolism is the process through which our body burns uses calories, nutrients. Our body needs energy to keep it working, maintain body temperature, replace dead cells, grow and get rid of harmful substances. Although the amount of energy required varies from person to person, most people burn between 1800 and 2800 calories a day. The rate of metabolism depends on whether our body is in carbohydrate or fat-burning mode.

Carbohydrate burning mode

In this mode our body uses carbohydrates not fat as its primary source of energy, and unused carbohydrates are converted into fat and stored by the body. Boosting your metabolism

BMI (Body Mass Index)

Body Mass Index or BMI is an internationally used ratio used to measure physical condition. We can calculate our own body mass index by dividing our body mass by the square of our body height in meters. The limitations of the BMI formula were first highlighted as early as the 1840s by Adolphe Quetelet the Belgian man who devised it. Since the 2010s researchers have started criticizing its use once again. Mathematicians from the University of Oxford claim that the Body Mass Index makes taller people look fatter and shorter people thinner than they actually are. They argue that after all people are three dimensional and as such a bigger body carries mass evenly distributed on it, which means the cube of the height should be considered as the body grows, but that is not what the traditional BMI formula considers. In addition, the body mass index does not take into consideration either the quality of components that make up the body mass or one’s stature, although fat, muscle and bone has different density and therefore different specific weight. This means that one’s BMI may misleadingly show that somebody, for example a body builder or any muscular person is overweight. Mathematicians from the University of Oxford propose a new formula for computing body mass index: BI = 1.3 x mass (kg) / height (meter)2.5.

BMD (Bone Mineral Density)

Bone density is the amount of mineral per square centimeter of bone surface. The higher the value, the more resistant your bones are to mechanical stress. There is proof that you can improve your BMD and make your bones stronger by exercise. An excellent way to prevent osteoporosis is to eat calcium-rich food or take calcium supplements and walking for 30-40 minutes three or four times a week, running or lifting weights.

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)

Basal Metabolic Rate is the rate of calories per unit time the body needs to burn at rest in order to maintain life functions. At rest, the body only uses energy to keep its primary organs, including the heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, nervous system, intestines, liver, sexual organs, muscles and skin functioning. In general, BMR is measured for weight loss purposes. In order to keep your ideal body weight it is important that energy intake and expenditure are in balance.

Cardio

The word cardio refers to the heart. We use it as an adjective to describe workout, e.g. cardio workout or cardio machines, and here it refers to exercises that improve the capacity of your heart. There are two categories of cardio workout: long- low or moderate-intensity aerobic exercises with a steady heart rate or shorter, high-intensity exercise with the intensity changing at regular intervals. Exercises performed over a relatively long time at a moderate space improve endurance, but prepare your heart for only a certain pace, while it is harder on your joints. In interval training the periods of high-intensity periods are followed by relief periods, which boosts the generation of antioxidants in your body, improves metabolism and the burning of fat, results in greater weight loss in a shorter time, shapes and builds our muscles and prepares our heart to deal with changing demands more effectively.

Cellulite

Also known as orange peel syndrome, which manifests itself in the dimpling and nodularity of the skin, and due to differences in the connective tissue of the sexes, it occurs almost exclusively in males. It is not a natural phenomenon, but rather indicative of underlying problems or an unhealthy life style. The primary reason for its development is an unhealthy diet, since when we eat more calories than our body needs, our body cannot do anything but store the excess energy in the form of fat. The more non-natural substances (preservatives, refined or hormone-treated food) we eat, the greater the risk of putting on extra weight and the risk of cellulite.

Sugar

Sugar is the simplest form of carbohydrates. It tends to be sweet (table sugar, fructose, lactose also known as milk sugar). Naturally occurring carbohydrates are our main food, but refined sugar causes several diseases. The main reason it can be considered harmful is that the sugar content of naturally occurring plants is significantly lower than that of the white sugar you buy in the shop. The sugar content of sugar beet is eighteen per cent, whereas the sugar content of refined sugar is ninety-five per cent. Our body is simply not prepared to cope with sugar in such density, and the excessive sugar will ferment. (Fermentation: the breakdown of dissolved non-nitrogenous organic matter, usually carbohydrates carried out by yeast or fission yeast.) Sir C. H. Best, the co-discoverer of insulin claimed that sugar has the same effect on the body as alcohol.

Enzyme

Enzymes are various proteins that act as catalysts by triggering and accelerating certain biochemical reactions. Enzyme are not only active in the breakdown (digestion) of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, but also in constructive processes and the functioning of the immune system. When pathogens attack the body it is not only the hydrolipidic film on the surface of the skin, but enzymes protect it as well by neutralizing the toxins coming from outside. These protective enzymes can be found in the orifices as well (e.g. lysozyme in saliva, tear and mucus). Strength training

The other type of training beside aerobic training is strength training. The main aim of strength training is to increase muscle mass, and by this it changes the physique as well as the metabolism of the body. It is absolutely essential for sportspeople to replenish their protein levels, as without them their muscles cannot develop, and can even decrease in mass.

GI (glycemic index)

It is a number assigned to carbohydrates showing their impact on the blood sugar level. Glycemic index is scale from 0 to 100, where pure glucose is assigned the value of 100, and one unit of every other type of food is compared to it regarding the impact it has on blood sugar levels, how fast the carbohydrate is absorbed after eating, and how high blood sugar levels rise. For example, when you it food with a GI of 100, the blood sugar level will go up incredibly fast and also very high. We talk about food having a low GI-value if it is between 0 and 55, medium GI-value between 56 and 69, high GI-value between 70 and 100. Muscle soreness

Muscle soreness is the inflammation of the muscles after strenuous physical activity, which usually lasts between two to three days. During workout these fibers get damaged continuously, and then after workout, during rest they recover and become stronger than before. Muscle soreness may have the following three causes: 1. Damage to the muscle fibers that is beyond a critical point. In fact muscle soreness is not a bad thing, it only means that our muscles were under stress, and now they are recovering.

Yo-yo effect

The yo-yo effect is basically caused by reduced basal metabolism. The 24-hour energy turnover of the human body is 5800 kJ; this is what is required by the body’s organs at rest. If we perform easy physical activity, we need 11000 kJ energy. If you cut calories significantly or skip meals, it will slow down your basal metabolic rate. During weight loss, the body first converts its stored fats into energy, so you can achieve weight loss. Once you have reached your ideal weight and increase your intake, your metabolism will not automatically accelerate. Slower metabolism will not be able to burn larger amounts of calories, therefore it will be deposited in fat stores, so you will gain back the weight you lost. If, however, you combine diet with a change in lifestyle, you will not gain back the weight you have lost. It is recommended that you decrease your calorie intake slowly and gradually by eating five times a day and exercising every day. Calorie

Collagen

The word collagen is of Greek origin meaning glue. It is one of the most common proteins in the animal kingdom. It plays an important role in filling in the space between cells creating an extracellular matrix, making bones less rigid, making up the cartilage tissue. It is a structural protein, practically insoluble in water, but it can be dissolved in acid or alkaline solutions. It provides the body with a substance that supports the recovery of joint cartilage and improves mobility. The majority of bones and cartilages consist of elastic proteins, without which they would splinter from even the smallest of impact.
